Basketball is my Life

when i play basketball i get a different feeling and it seperates me from the world that has my problems in it. been playing basketball for a long time and i can say i am pretty good at it. not only do i play it i live it. i catch it on tv when i can. this is my favorite time of the year because it is currently Basketball season. March madness had just came to an end not too long ago. Butler disappointed me because of their extra low shooting percentage. I was never a UConn fan so I really did not want to see them win. The NBA playoffs are nothing like March Madness because one game cannot be a such a drastic change in the swing of things. The Mavericks are my favorite pick right now to win it all. i was expecting a sweep for the Mavericks to take over the Trial Blazer but it do not look that way. Everybody seemed to hop on the bandwagon for the Bulls and the Knicks because of the trades that they had with star players but it seems that the knicks are not going to got to the next round becaue they lost the series against the celtics. But the bulls on the other hand are playing well and are finna win the series against the pacers.

Murcury Grand Marquis

I got my first car when i was an sophomore in high school, it was a 1991 honda accord and i was so excited about getting this car because it was my first on and it was going to be mines. When i first got the car i loved it and it was mines. i took it everywhere and showed everyone because it was my car and i loved it. Did i mention that i loved it, lol, because i did and it was the best car i had. we went everywhere and it was joyful. We went from Oklahoma to the Houston to enjoy this country. we had our ups and downs with problems with the engine and interior work needing to be done but we prevailed. As time went on our relationship started to die and i wanted to move on. The car started to just go bad completely. I got robbed one time for my radio and that just took all hope out of me of what i had left for the car. So after 5 long years of good memories it was time to move on and get another car but this process was long and dreadful.

So the process of me getting another car is not going to good, im stuck with this car that i dnt want no more because it is costing me to much money to fix and there are to may problems with the car. Im begging my dad to buy me a new car, I tried to use my refund money to purchase a car, i tried to buy my roommates car, i also tried to buy a car from a member of my church. This was harder than i thought.

So when i was about to give up and stop looking for a car i kind of settled down and made some decisions on what kind of car i wanted. Growing up i always wanted a grand marquis or a chevy impala. Those two cars where cars that i loved and i always wanted but knew that i wasn't gone get them because of the types of cars they were. So after a couple of months and crying nights i received a text message from my dad late at night. I was nervous because my dad hardly ever calls or text me with anything. I didn't know if it was good news or bad news. The text message read, "Guess what i have sitting in my drive way" and i wasn't thinking about a car so i took a wild guess.i texted back and asked him did he get a new truck. He replied and said nope and sent me text message picture. I opened the picture message and on my phone was a 1998 tan Mercury Grand Marquis. My face filled with joy because i knew it was for me. My dad pulled through and got me a new car and i was to happy. i couldnt wait to go to dallas to see it and drive it back to denton.

I finally made it to dallas to pick up my new ride. When i got to my dads house and pulled up i could see the car from afar and immediately started grinning from ear to ear. i couldn't believe my eyes, i had a new car, and on top of that it was the car of my dreams. I jumped out the car that i was in and ran to the grand marquis and  hugged the car for about 10 mins and almost started to cry. hahaha ok im lying, i didn't cry but i was emotionally happy. To this day i have the grand marquis and we are living the life together and going everywhere.

The College Life

Being a college student has it perks. You get that sense of freedom from your parents for the first time and get a taste of how to be independent. There are certain experiences you can only get while you are in college. Meeting new people and learning how to be independent.  But everything in college does not always be all glits and glamour.
Living with other people you have never met before can be a handful. I am currently dealing with a roommate that does not respect the ground that I walk on. i am a friendly person and don't care for violent confrontation but if it comes down to it i have to protect myself and my home. i pay rent just like he does and i believe that the house should be clean and my opinion should be respected. i dnt want people to come to the house and see a house full of trash and clutter everywhere, and at the same time i dnt want to be the maid of the house and clean up after everybody because the wont. I am generally a nice person but sometimes my temper gets lost dealing with this one. I also live with two other people and they feel the same way about this guy. We constantly have to tell him to clean up after his mess in the kitchen like doing the dishes or taking out the trash. Sometimes it gets as bad as he would cook my food and not clean up or offer me any. I usually do not seek to take the violent route but I have been considering it. His friends that he brings over are just as good as him.

Another thing I was not expecting when I get to college is the high amount of work. Yes I knew college work was going to be hard but I did not expect the high volume and amount of work and it seems to overlap and be due at the same time. My school work and my dealing with the problem with my roommate can get the best of me sometimes. Having to balance school, roommates, the little bills i have and a job can become stressful and frustrating. this will drive even the strong crazy sometimes. but when you do something positive about things in your life it makes you stronger as a person and bring comfort to yourself.

technology

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eW8r7ALWzsI

the ling above is a link to a video that will inform you of the latest new technology that may be coming out soon. this topic is what i am doing my final research on. is technology to advanced and headed in the wrong direction or is it just rite and is a helpful accommodation to this society. the question are what i feel may never have a rite or wrong answer. i believe that technology is sometimes to advanced and is not really helpful to the people. people you technology as a something that they can't go without and this is not true at all. technology was created to decrease some and increase efficiency which in my opinion is making people more lazy because technology is doing all the work. the new generation will not know what labor is in the coming years because robots and machines will do all the work and no one will have to do anything.

What is fat? What is thick? These terms are used a lot but in reality they are not the same. Fat is as much as a body type as it is a mental state of mind. The thought can be just as limiting as the physical. On the other hand, thick is more so a body style that is typically very appealing to the eye. The picture at the top is an example of a this woman, and the image below that one is an image of what some may call fat. A thick woman has shape or a figure. It can be something like the "coke bottle shape" or it can be like a "pear" or a "star"...because every woman is a star. Every thick woman has a shape. Now fat, there is not much to describe their bodies. I can only describe them as.."biscuit cans". If you have a better way of describing them then by all means tell me.

One of my close friends told me to address the issue of "Fat" women calling themselves "Thick". Now I personally can't attest to this idea but i'll give my 25¢. Women don't want to be called fat. Plain and simple. Society has placed a "taboo" on those words. Thick is looked at as a good thing. Women in videos or "Video Hoes" are known for their thickness. The more thick a woman is the more attention she will receive. But it is a way to give themselves hope that they can become thick but people on the outside know that is not the case. It's not meant to be mean but it's usually obvious. Just because you put on short-shorts with lotion or baby oil doesn't mean you are thick. I'm sure you have some excess body fat sticking out of the top and bottom of your shorts. A woman, regardless of the size who takes pride in her appearance, is beautiful. If you have the confidence and the will to take care of your body then all of the labels and titles that are put on women are nonexistent when it comes to you. Most people fail to do what needs to be done to take care of themselves and expect to get a good outcome. It is not required that you be just that outwardly beautiful, but it is definitely important. Because it does play a part in your self-esteem.

Can Dating be a Sport?

The more I ponder this thought, the more I realize we are all heads of our own sport organizations. We participate in prospect scouting, contract negotiations, and all that other stuff. Each team has its on identity. As men and women, we all have our own criteria. Its moreso a checklist to go by when looking for someone. Not everyone is a good fit for your team. So there is a period of research that takes place. Just like teams go to combines or go over film. We go to bars, clubs, parties, etc... We look for people and if we see something that garners attention we let it be known that we have interest. Once that is out the way we begin the meticulous process of elimination, because like any sport you can only have so many players on your roster. The way we eliminate people is very superficial and shallow. We may go out on a date or something and you realize, well this person isn't as wealthy as I thought they were or this person is not as cute as they were in the club...etc etc. Once we have found that person or people we are interested in its on to the next step.
Okay so after you have figured who you have interest in its time you lure them to your organization. In sports this is where the agent comes in. The agent wants to make the deal as one-sided as possible because they are representing their client and have their client's best interest at heart. But, who represents the two parties in this situation? The answer: No one. We are not represented by anyone. We let the dates speak for themselves, the text messages, and the phone calls as well. If that isn't enough we tend to make things seem a bit more appealing than they naturally are to get that person on your team. In basketball, this is done as well. To get a person to join your team you have to show that your organization has the ability to win. That's when teams who are lacking, dip into the dreadful free agency to pick up some washed up player. To show the prospective player that "Hey we have this now all we need is you".
Now that negotiations are done and you have the person on your team what do we do next? We bring out all the bells and whistles for them. We take them out on dates to the most magnificent of places. We spend all our time with this other person to make them feel as though they are the most important person in the world. Then when all of that leads to less the mediocre results, the "realness" comes out. In sports, thats when the interviews stop being so friendly. When your team mates start blaming you for things. When the abilities you have come into question. For dating this could mean a number of things. You could have not put out (Ladies) or you could not have satisfied the woman (Men). It could be a plethora of things. Regardless of the nature of the issue. The fact remains that the aura that was once around a person is gone. Or the buzz around a high draft pick is fading. Once that happens then you become open for business again. Sports organizations call that "exploring other options". What happens next happens to everyone who dates at some point in time.

There was a point in time where the only form of entertainment and news in the home was the radio. The radio was and still is a way to communicate to large amounts if households. The radio industry was controlled by some of the major companies that produce our tv programming today (NBC, & CBS-formerly Infinity Broadcasting). Black ownership of radio stations had little to do with the news reported. According to the National Association of Black-owned Broadcasters (NABOB), there were only 30 African-American owned broadcast facilities in the United States in 1976. Today, NABOB boasts 220 member stations - and local Black radio news is near extinction. To say that Black-owned radio stations are non-existent is incorrect. Radio One, founded by Cathy Hughes, has over 66 stations and the company is worth over $2 billion. Clear Channel operates 1,200 stations and only 49 are programmed to black audiences. There aren't any Black News stations. Not even BET (Black Entertainment Television) has news. The only t.v. station of its kind and no news show. Is there not any news for Black America? Where are the African American journalists that report the news that affects us? Not only has the news being reported on the radio be dried up, but the music has as well. Now radio is controlled by the 4 giants of the industry (Warner Music, EMI, Sony/BMG and Universal Music Group). They influence the radio play so much that radio stations only play what they are told. There are playlists they are told to play. For example, I live in Dallas. For those who are familiar with Hip-Hop, Dallas is most notably known as the birthplace of dancing music.  In Houston, there is a radio station know as The Box (97.9 KBXX) which is owned by Radio One. This station is the only one in Houston that only plays hip-hop all day. Now for a station that is supposed to be a hip-hop station how is it that the music style that originated in Houston not get any radio play? How is it that artist that are from Houston, who are successful and known around the world not get any spins in their own city? But artists like Drake, 50 Cent, Jay-Z, Rihanna..etc etc get spins every hour! The music stations were are used to hearing from are gone. They have been replaced with these stone-washed stations that produce cookie cutter playlists every hour. The news were are used to hearing has been replaced with celebrity gossip. Since when has it been "news" to hear about this celebrity marrying this one? Or this person having a baby by this celebrity? If we continue down this path we will not be able to change course when its necessary.

Tomika Coleman

this is an image of my sister, her name is tomika chezzell coleman. this is my oldest sister. i guess your wondering why i have this picture of her and what am i going to talk about. well im going to tell you. i have to sisters and if you have any sisters you would know that you can't have a favorite cause the other one will be upset of course. but tomika was different. she took care of me as a child mostly because my mother has a disease in her hip to were every four or five years she has to have hip surgery to replace her hip. my mother would spend weeks to month bed ridden because of these surgeries. but back to my sister. i love her so much and dearly that i would give my life for her. now im going to go ahead and say it but my sister didn't really live the golden life and be the example that she should have been sometimes, in my opinion. she did things that she knew that she wasn't taught growing up. we all have manors and we all know how to use them. im not going to go into details of the wrong doing of my sister because that will help nothing. my sister had a good head and cared so much for others that that was how she will be remembered. she dedicated her life to help others and to be friendly, kind and peace hearted to anyone. she had a lot of friends and not to many enemies because of the person she was and i loved her for that. she never judged anyone or anything, everything was acceptable in her eyes and you don't see that to much these days. but your rite everyone is entitled to their own opinion, true. but my sister and the many others like her are the people that stand out in this world that and that i a blessing. this past year my sister was shot and killed by her best friends baby daddy. it was a regular day and she was spending the night with one of her friends like she normally does after she gets off work. the man blasted the front door with a 12 gauge shotgun looking for his babies mother. he preceded in the house for what he was there for. he shot my sister in the chest and in the leg and when he realized that who he had shot wasn't his babies mother he continued in the house. he found her in the tub and shot her in the face. my sister and her friend were both murdered that night for no reason at all. the baby father told police that he wasn't being able to see his some so he was mad and frustrated. i see now why she wouldn't let you see your son and for that now you will never get to see your son or hold him again because of your actions. i miss my sister really bad and it hurts that her life was taken from her at the age of 33, she still lives on tho, we talk bout her all the time in remembrance of her and know that one day we will see her soon.
